[New Poll] 15 Minutes Too Long To Wait For Appointment

It’s no secret that patients don’t like it when their doctor or healthcare provider makes them wait.

But how long is too long for a patient to wait past their scheduled appointment time?

We took to Twitter to find out. And the Twittersphere didn’t disappoint.

Over 2,300 patients answered our poll, “How long is too long to wait at the #Doctors office before you’re seen?”

And they said:

15+ minutes?

That right 60% of all patients who took the survey (1,410) stated a wait longer than 15 minutes is too long.

While not uncommon for some practices, after that long, it’s easy to see how any patient would be upset. It’s certainly a lot more forgiving that we anticipated (after the horror stories we’ve heard from patients about practice wait times).

The 15 minute mark is a bit misleading. One in three survey respondents find a wait longer than five minutes to be too long.

In reality, 9 out of 10 patients don’t want to wait more than 5 minutes.

Here’s to the importance of time management!
